In an intimate 2/3 hour workshop we will be exploring and working with exotic raw materials and essential oils to create handmade incense and delve into the mystical and wonderful realms of scented smoke offerings.

Sacred Smoke: Incense Making Workshop

Incense has powerful aromatherapeutic value to relax the body and calm the mind. The aroma of incense stimulates the senses and purifys and clears space and helps ground and uplift the human phsyche.

Queens, Kings, Princes, Maharajahs Emperors from all cultures have historically revered, fought over and traded precious aromatics for anointing and for burning as incense offerings. Sacred Plants Resins, Woods, Spices historically and currently are in high demand across continents and are as valued as gold and precious jewels since ancient times. Secret Recipes have been carefully guarded and handed down through the centuries using treasured and rare aromatics as offerings and prayers through smoke to Divine Source.

Leanne Hirsh, Natural Perfumer, Co Founder and Creator of Perfumera Curandera Healing Perfumes will guide you in an incense making workshop.

Each participant will go home with a box of their scented creations. From 12 to 20 pieces in a box.

To begin, we will talk about historical uses of incense and it's various forms while sampling from a wide selection of precious, carefully selected and prepared raw aromatic materials.

We will choose from a selection of resins, sacred woods and flowers locally gathered from Upstate NY and from travels to other wild places such as Mongolia, Morrocco and Peru.

A selection of aromatherapeutic essential oils and aromatic waters will also be chosen for their additional benefits to add into your own personalized incense blend.

Then we will make the incense by hand into various shapes and forms.
