Founded and made by Leanne Hirsh, Perfumera Curandera was inspired from over 25 years of traveling to the Amazon rainforest and Andes mountains with her Peruvian husband and through their extensive studies with Curanderos - shamanic keepers of the ancient healing knowledge of sacred teacher plants. These Curanderos and the magical plants they heal with, inspired the creation of the unique, aromatic plant extracts that are at the heart of Perfumera Curandera.
Perfumera Curandera has been a labour of love and passion, with every detail done by hand by Leanne herself in between her make up assignments. Leanne is well known in the fashion industry for her work as an internationally renowned makeup artist of over 25 years. Her regular clients include: Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, British Vogue, Allure, W, ID, Face, New York Times, Vanity Fair and many celebrities, and major fashion and beauty brands.
Travelling the world while working in the fashion and beauty industry has allowed her to seek out and collect rare botanicals and natural remedies. Her favourite pastime is to be out in the field, and gather plants for her tinctures and infusions of flowers and leaves and roots for her fragrant creations.
Precious materials such as fragrant Amazonian roots, exotic florals, cacao beans and guyusa from the Peruvian jungles, wild Andean mint and coca leaves and Palo Santo from the Andes, as well as, sage, pinon and juniper berries from the deserts of the southwest, fragrant plumeria and tuberose flowers from the volcanic shores of the Hawaiian Islands all wend their way into her alchemical, handmade perfumes.
